SOUTHEASTERN PEDAL CAR SHOW

2005

Linda Portell

Well, sad to say that another southeastern pedal car show has come and gone. It seems that you no sooner get to the show, then it is over and you are packing up to go home. If you have never been to one of the shows that are promoted by the Ellsworth family of Sc., then you are truly missing out on an experience of a lifetime.

Elliot Roberts of Colorado came by our home in Missouri on Sunday. He stayed with us overnight, and we started the trek to Tenn. together.

We arrived on Monday evening…now, the actual show is held on the following Saturday…. With trailer in tow. There were some people that had gotten there before us. After unpacking our clothes and things, we started visiting with friends.

On Tue. Several more friends started coming in to the motel. Naturally when someone arrives in the parking lot…everyone runs to see what treasure they have brought to the show. By Wed. things were really starting to swing. If you simply sit back and watch it is a very fun show. Watching grown men (and women) dealing with each other for some toy.

It is difficult to try to describe this show to those of you who have not experienced it. I guess the best explanation would be simply that it is a very large family reunion of pedal car lovers. Grown men turn into little boys once more, and fun is had by all who attend. Bob, Barbara, Janice, and Glen having been doing this show for many years. All anyone can say to them is simply…thank you for making us all a part of your extended family!!!!

We are all counting the days till next years show.

Elliot Roberts with Popeye in Chester Ill.

Popeye must have left quite an impression on Elliot Roberts.    Who has the Biggest Muscles? Elliot Roberts or Captain Bill Walls?

Ricky Lowe was a huge help to Dan, he tended the booth & ran out to the trailer to dive for more parts.
